Roadshow in Vinh Chau

Report by AD

The GIZ project in Soc Trang continued to collaborate with the Forest Protection Sub-Department and different levels of local authorities in organising two awareness raising events about climate change and mangrove forests at Ward No.1 (Vinh Chau 2 primary school in Zone No.4) and Ward No. 2 (at New Pagoda), Vinh Chau District, Soc Trang Province.

The events were held in the morning and afternoon of 16.11.2011 and are the third and fourth in a series which will move like a roadshow from village to village in the entire coastal zone of Soc Trang Province. For information about the second event in August 2011 click here.

These events, which took place in school yards and a pagoda, attracted pupils and their teachers as key audiences. More than 200 pupils joined the morning event in Ward 1 and about 300 pupils enjoyed the afternoon section in Ward 2. Pupils coloured pictures on environmental topics and had opportunities to talk about them. Promotion awards were given to those who could explain the meaning of the pictures. Teachers also had opportunities to learn more about climate change and the importance of mangrove forest, which they all considered useful for their students.

Pupils at the ward 1 enjoyed the roadshow in the morning.

More pupils participated in the afternoon section at new pagoda, ward 2, Vinh Chau Town.
