The Ambassador answering interview by Soc Trang TV
The German Ambassador, the country director of KfW (German Development Bank) and the country director of GIZ visited Soc Trang on 17th and 18th June 2013 as part of a 3 day mission to the Mekong Delta. The aim of the mission was to gain an insight into the outcomes and challenges of bilateral technical and financial collaboration.
On 17th June, the delegation had a short meeting at the office of GIZ Soc Trang where they got an introduction to the challenges in the Mekong Delta and the Soc Trang GIZ project. Then the delegation visited the bamboo T-fences, a coastal protection and mangrove rehabilitation model at the project site in Nopol, Vinh Chau. During the fieldtrip, the delegation also visited the co-management group in Au Tho B village, walking along the bamboo walkway supported by the project and had a chance to meet and talk with local inhabitants who are members of the co-management group there.
On the next day 18th of June, the delegation attended the ceremonial inauguration of the wastewater treatment plant of Soc Trang City and had a meeting with the Provincial People’s Committee. After that, the delegation continued their journey to visit another GIZ project in Bac Lieu and the institute of vocational training “LILAMA II“ in Dong Nai province which is also supported by German funds.
