Co-management meeting in Cu Lao Dung

10th negotiation meeting

Place: An Thanh Nam Commune People’s Committee, Cu Lao Dung District

The meeting started with participants sharing their impressions on the last meeting with members of the whole co-management group. In general, they felt that people understand the important role of mangroves, why we should protect and use them sustainably, plus there was also high consensus on the regulation discussed. But more than so, it was reminded that, for co-management to become part of their daily lives, people should be aware of their roles and should take part actively in decision-making and attend the regular meetings which will be held monthly in each sub-group.

Copies of the draft regulations were distributed to the participants. Then, it was read out loud article by article. Each article was discussed, adjusted according to the comments of the group and had to be approved by all before going to the next one. At the end of the meeting, so far, we had agreed on the first 4 chapters of the regulations, from article 1 to article 10.
