Co-management meeting in Cu Lao Dung

Place: Community House of Vo Thanh Van Village, An Thanh Nam Commune

Aims of this 6^th meeting were to have officially signatures of local resource users, to identify of issues and to brainstorm for vision of the co-management group. 

 

 

People were asked to identify issues concerning co-management of their mangrove forest in Vo Thanh Van village. 

People were also encouraged to speak out about the vision/dreams for the co-management group in Vo Thanh Van village. Summary of their ideas:

-       Let natural resources multiplied and regenerated.

-       The co-management group has solidarity, keeping well the forest, not allowing outsiders to exploit it.

-       Coordinating with neighbor areas for effective management.

-       Living conditions enhanced. Everyone has sufficient food, clothes, children can go to school. 

 

Then, next step of negotiation was briefly explained. There would be 2 meetings every month, (1) between local resource users’ representatives & local authority and (2) between sub-group leaders & their group members. Besides the 2 sub-group leaders, 5 more people (Mr. Ha Van Cong, Mr. Nhan Van Hien, Mr. Truong Van An from sub-group 1; and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tai, Mr. Thach Vinh from sub-group 2) were nominated to join the local resource users’ representatives in the next step of negotiation.

At conclusion of the meeting, people signed 3 copies of the official Cooperation Contract.
