Aquatic Resources Carrying Eggs Conservation Study Tour for Co-management Group in Vo Thanh Van Hamlet, Cu Lao Dung



 The IUCN project “Building the pilot model of changing destructive fishing gears into environmental-friendly gears and local aquatic resources’genera conservation in Vo Thanh Van Hamlet, An Thanh Nam Commune, Cu Lao Dung District and Trung Binh Commune, Tran De District, Soc Trang Province” started on 01/09/2013 with the aim of building the pilot model of seafoods carrying eggs conservation, raising coastliners’awareness and rehabilitating local aquatic resources. 

Sub-DECAFIREP, IUCN and GIZ CZM ST operated the study tour to Phu Quoc, Kien Giang with the aim to help co-management groups in Vo Thanh Van and Mo O in effectively implementing of  aquatic resources carrying eggs conservation model after learning from the trip.

Co-management meeting in Cu Lao Dung

In this meeting, we discussed about the patrolling plan for the rest two months of 2013. We agreed that there will be 4 patrolling days/month.

It is scheduled that the patrolling days will be when the tide is low (when many people go to the mudflat to collect aquatic resources which are the 9th-10th and 24th-25th of each lunar month): November 11-12 and 26-27; December 11-12 and 26-27. Participants in the patrolling team include representatives of the Red Team, commune police, border post, forest ranger, district project team. There will be both patrolling by motorbike along the dyke and by boats.
